Wild Words

The raging current dragged our helpless kayaks downstream. With no hope of making it back, I let my muscles rest and save them for the times to come. My sister and her friend in front of me gave up long ago and have since been staring in awe at the remarkable landscape and massive mountains. While I let the river take me, I took notice of each and every insect and animal that swum, flew or galloped past, the loving way that the bumble bee’s pollinated the flowers and the hypnotizing way the fish swam next to my boat. Suddenly a shadow passed over us and it was not so bright and cheerful anymore. The looming silhouette of horse peak now dominated the surroundings, standing tall above all other hills. Far below the jagged cliff, a gaping hole began to open up with hundreds of streams just like our one, joined and entered the depths of the mountain.
